Here’s what he found: Tiguan deliveries (10,955; +50%) make the crossover its best selling model. Jetta (9,592; -9.5%) is number two, followed by the Atlas (8,227; +103%). VW’s total U.S. sales last month were 35,412. Overall, automakers reported sales increases last month.
VW says sales last month were the best for August, since 2013. Golf sales were down (370; -35%) but E Golfs were up (689; +2053%). GTI declined (936; -39%), Beetle increased (1,916; +37%) but the Passat sank (572; -85%).
VW didn’t say whether the Passat’s lackluster number of units was due to the 2020 changeover or soft sedan sales.
