Automotive News reports VWoA’s dealers were notified on Sept. 24th that its plan to relaunch its 2027 EV minivan during fall 2026 has been scratched.
Instead of an updated 2027 Buzz, VW says the van will return later for the 2028 model year. Last May, VW said it would reintroduce the Buzz this fall with two-tone only paint (sans the Energetic Orange/Candy White combo), pushbutton steering wheel switchgear and a Tourer trim for weekend camping.
This marks the second straight year VW hasn’t offered its retro-style EV in the USA. Cars.com, says Automotive News, lists just 38 new 2025 Buzzes available for American shoppers. VW’s Buzz is subject to high import tariffs, hit with two stop-sale orders and hurt by expiration of the $7,500 federal EV tax credit.
