VW Group (VW, Audi, Porsche, Skoda and Seat) expanded market shares and volume in most regions.  Sales rose in Europe 3.9% (4,552,800) but fell in North America -0.5%.  While U.S. deliveries increased 2.5% (654,200), they were offset by declines in Canada and Mexico.  Chinese sales were 4,233,600 (+0.6%).  VW’s electric vehicle sales rallied 80% (140,000).

German prosecutors charged six unnamed VW employees of fraud and tax evasion due to their roles in the firm’s emissions cheating.  All charged were below management board level says prosecutor Klaus Ziehe.  Three executives are accused as perpetrators, while the other three aided cheating by developing emissions skirting software.  Prosecutors have now charged 11 people and are investigating another 32.
