According to Automotive News, VW’s labor union IG Metall revealed Volkswagen is rebadging its ID. 4 battery electric SUV as the ID. Tiguan. This name change continues VW’s EV rebranding theme introduced last fall.
The BEV gets a new name and face-lift later this year. The revised nomenclature is part of VW’s EV branding strategy. ID will denote an EV. Those letters will be followed by a heritage VW model name such as Polo.
VW thinks its familiar brand names and vehicle styling will make its EVs click with car buyers.
